i've moved! to www.shao.speechlez.com so continue to visit me there! this shall be my last post, n yes it's still about the world cup but from 2 singaporean women's point of view..
scene: hong lim food centre, the day after france beat port(ugal)y to advance incident: i was enjoying my super fantastic fish soup rice, with 2 other rather bimbotic women (old nonetheless) opposite me. by the looks of it, they were great porty supporters (probably coz of the cute actor - c.Ronaldo)
bimbo 1: (to bimbo 2, of coz.. to me mehz?) eh portugal shouldn't get out lehs! the refs all kelong de, siding with france.. everytime porugal player fall down also don't want to award free kick! bimbo 2: ya lor... tsk tsk fifa ah, super kelong.. me: (thinking out loud)hello, see the last 2 games porty play not? against holland, they resort to violence. against england, they do it with play acting. i'm sure fifa has enough sense to ask the refs not to be bluffed by porties anymore right??
bimbo 1: aiyah, did you see the ronaldo miss the attempt?
bombo 2: *nods*
me: (thinking out loud again)i didn't see the misses, but i'm sure i saw the dives after that..
bimbo2: did you see him cry after that? bimbo1: ya ya, so pooooor thing... me: (thinking out even louder) he cries for every single thing!! advance, cry. never advance, also cry. but i'll remember him for that wink when he got roon sent off..
bimbo 1 continues to rattle on about all those little facts about the world cup, like she knows everything.. but those little facts sounded familiar.. weren't those that i read from the straits times in the morning? like how ribery got that big scar across his face etc..
the ultimate of all...
bimbo 1: did you know portugal never lost a match till last night? bimbo 2: yar!! me: (bursting out loud.. i wished i did!) hellooooooo! none of those 4 teams lost a single match until they met one another! did germany the great lose? did wonderous italia defence let in another goal after that own goal by a substitute? france, boring as they were, never lost too though they did managed 2 draws.. so WHAT'S SO GREAT ABOUT YOUR BEST PORTUGESE ACTORS NOT LOSING A SINGLE MATCH TILL LAST NIGHT?!
i wished i had more peace during my lunch.

::The 3rd team::
ok, so the teams that made it to the quarter finals are: germany, argentina, england, portugal, italy, ukraine, brazil, france. whooo all big big teams, all our dream teams.. eh but wait, what's ukraine doing here? where's spain? >.<
~germany got through by beating sweden rather convincingly, finished them off in how many minutes. and poor sweden had a player sent off.. >.< but well done la, germany.. on you go! but i think this is one of the most boring round of 16 matches considering what other sensational ones were going to come up next..
~argies had to go into extra time, and after a fantastic (probably goal-of-the-tournament) goal by rodrigues (how u spell it?) beat mexico.. i think mexico played quite well lehs, considering they were up against what seemed like one of the deadliest teams in this world cup.. oh and i love the argies fans, all swinging their jersies in the air like a mad party..
~england.. probably the 3rd most talked about match after italy n portugal's respectively.. 60 minutes into the game, england looked pathetic and lifeless against ecuador, becks swung his trademark free kick into the net and sealed england's meagre victory.. and he went on to puke on the ground.. lucky england, super super lucky.. at this rate that they're playing, they actually call themselves likely contenders of the champion?? someone should ask them to wake up.
~portugal-holland match.. battle of nuremberg, they call it.. why? the ref flashed a total of 16 yellows and 4 reds! gotta be the most violent match (and the most kayu refereeing) le.. so portugal scrpaed through the match with a 1-0 win. somehow, when you red the post match reports, they seemed to concentrate more on the brawling than the balling.. who was the better team??
~italy beat australia by scoring a last minute (or rather last 20 seconds) penalty.. hiyoh, even as an azzurri fan i don't think this is the best way to win.. aussies worked damn hard for the draw and the ref had to give away a penalty kick in the dying seconds. like what they said, it's daylight robbery la.. credits for italy's defending with 10 men, kudos to aussies never-say-die spirit. but the 3rd team - the referees - don't deserve anything but a red card.. what did that red think he was doing? maybe he wanted to outdo the other guy from the protugal-holland match to create more record in this world cup.. bleahs.. azzurri fan, but not proud to be one this time!
~switz went out of the tournament as the only team who didn't let in any goal.. in other words, clean sheet all the way.. well maybe it goes to show something, the whole swiss team can defend damn well, but none of them can score at penalties?! maybe you win some, you lose some.. not all teams can be as all-rounded as brazil right? and shev-wad's-his-name can't score penalties too!! the miss yesterday probably reminded him of champs league last year in istanbul? nonetheless, they still got through and will meet italy in the quarters..
~brazil cruised pass ghana with a 3-0 victory.. actually, with all the hype surrounding brazil i was secretly hoping for a ghana miracle.. they were the only african (or rather non-south american or non-european) team left, so you'd want a world cup, not a american-euro cup right? and ghana was fantastic, they were better than ivory coast la.. in fact, ghana had more possesion, attempts at shots and reduced brazil to playin counter-attack! how can brazil possibly score more goals than a team that was playin better than them? :| but well, at least fat Ro is back!(ok, he's not fat.. he's just chubby k?)
~after holding on to a 1-1 scoreline for most of the match, spain succumbed to the french who scored 2 goals within the last 10 minutes or something.. poor poor spain, you kinda feel unjustified for spain who shone like bright stars during the group stages, only to get whacked out by a team who fared like dust during the round of 32.. but then again, maybe france was the better team this time round.. it goes back to show, no matter how good you were previously, all it takes is a small mistake to bring you back down.. that's life eh? the saddest thing to spain is probably the fact that ukraine (who they happily demolished during the groupies) advanced and spain didn't! >.<
meanwhile, i'm starting to have headaches from the late night sleep and lack of sleep le.. so i guess these 2 days are to make up for it, and while there might be a bit of no-match withdrawal around, i'd be glad to catch back my few hours of sleep each night ;) till the quarters, take care!

::mr owen is a 容易受伤的男人::
what happened to him?? he actually twisted his knee from that weird fall of his in the 1st minute of this morning's game.. i switched on the tv, and the 1st thing i saw through my very tiny eyes was the awkward way he fell and the substitution of crouch for him.. and i went back to sleep. :| so disappointing, where was the child prodigy with that wonderous goal against the argies 8 years ago? at 26, he should be at the peak of his career, but look what happened? >.< hais. i guess england fans should stop deceiving themselves, wake up people! england are not good enough for the trophy.. nonetheless, i'm standing by mr owen..
somehow this one wasn't as exciting as the previous world cup.. argentina are good, they look like brazil's biggest challenger.. and i don't understand what's wrong with the brazil's 2-2-6 formation.. they only managed to score 3 goals in 2 matches, while spain's torres scored 3 by himself in 2 matches.. hais. and burning out has started to take place. for me la.. wanted to bia 3 matches each day, screw up my biological clock and such, but that's if i hadn't found a job. but now, having worked 3 weeks, i'm tired. and it's not helping that after work, i've got tuition on an average of 4 times per week. that basically sapped away all my energy.. :|
let's all hope that the games get more exciting from now.. and i hope, azzurri can make it for the next round! >.<

::TGIWE::
Thank God It's WeekEnd!!
for me to catch up on my beauty sleep, and to watch more matches! on weekdays, considering the workload is a lot, a watch 1 match. fridays at least 2 matches, and saturdays it's a full-flung 3 matches ;) yeah! more to come and shall do a re-cap of the past matches that was a lot more noticeable..
*Poland-Ecuador: 0-2 who'd expect lowly ecuador to be so qiang this world cup? but then again, the ball is round.. *England-Paraguay: 1-0 technically speaking, england fared super badly for the match. it's an own goal by poor paraguayan captain, it's a morale-depressor for his team. and of course, as you all would have heard it, england blamed the weather for their lousy performance.. oh well, whatever.. as long as they get the 3 points they need.. *TrinidadTobago-Sweden: 0-0 i think sweden must have shots of over 20, everytime they attempted a shot, you'd think 'this is gonna be a goal liao' but sad to say, T&T were so great defenders they just snuffed off the game *yawns* *Argentina-Ivory Coast: 2-1 one of the best match so far, argies looked like they're gonna usurp brazil for the champion this time round. and ivory coast deserves a pat on the back for their effort, maybe they can do a senegal this time? *Serbia-Holland: 0-1 temperatures reached 40 deg C that day, and it was a frustrating match to watch :| *sad to say, i missed the group D matches of angola-portugal, and mexico-iran.. *Italy-Ghana: 2-0 finally the azzurri has proven their worth in this tournament! at least the 2nd goal was beautiful, let's just hope they can uphold the standard for the next few matches. go go azzurri!! (: *Australia-Japan: 3-1 hais, poor poor japan, poor poor kawaguchi >.< a bit disappointed with the results, considering this is the match that's considered the easiest for japan le.. *Brazil-Croatia: 1-0 looks like the samba kings have not warmed up yet.. can't wait to see their 2-2-6 formation lolx ;) *South Korea-Togo: 2-1 oh well.. south korea very qiang la, their red fans are still all over the place! hais and they chiong chiong the whole match.. *France-Switz: 0-0 luckily i only watched 20 minutes of it, coz i knew it'd be boring.. what's with le bleus?!?! *Spain-Ukraine 4-0 this is what i call thrashing.. and it was so cruel, where was the most hyped shev-wad? and spain looked so different, i think it's time for them to shrug off their 'king of underperformers' title.. *Germany-Poland: 1-0 can someone tell me why is lehmann still between the goalpost?? *Ecuador-Costa Rica: 3-0 i say again, ecuador is really damn qiang.. *England-TrinidadTobago: 2-0 they took 83 minutes to break the wall of defence.. boring match until our favourite boy-wonder rooooooney comes on, and crouchy scored a header and gerrard did his trademark thunder-strike.. finaaly, it's a convincing win for them.. *Argentina-Serbia: 6-0 if you call spain's triumph over ukraine a 'thrashing', this match is gonna be called a 'demolishing' totally lehs.. :| poor things, and argies did damn well again.. brazil should watch their backs >.< *Holland-Ivory Coast: 2-1 another defeat of the same scoreline for ivory coast, i thought a draw was more consoling for ivory coast, considering the amount of effort they put in and their drive in the game..
tonight, there's portugal-iran, czech rep-ghana, italy-usa.. shall bia all the 3.. lolx gotta go! enjoy the rest people!!
p's: can someone tell me, why are beckham and crouch wearing long sleeves??

6 goals, germany beat costa rica 4-2. somehow, i think they should do away with jens, and put back oliver k. he's so much more steady.. i mean jens literally stoned there when the goals came in.. :| but it was just about the most happening, goals-fiesta opening match ever :) more to come! yups but shall go sleep le tmr got 2 matches to 赶 wor..

::W for work and World Cup::
been working for a week le.. still gonna conclude schooling is still the best (: raffles place is so much nicer compared to the godforsaken place i worked at last year, at least there's good food n a nice river to sit by. n the food's not exactly very expensive, $2 for normal chicken rice, $2.50 for additional meat. *shmacks* colleagues are quite nice and friendly, very considerate also - working quietly, but there's always the occasional gossip and small talks. there's the internet cafe, it's a cool concept haha i guess it's to make up for denying me of internet access :| yes! no internet!! heh but k la, managed to pass time without that too.. n i don't have to answer phone calls and faxes and emails and hear from annoying customers and supervisors etc. haha own time own target, and all these for quite a satisfactory pay ;) ya but i keep falling asleep during work, and when world cup comes...?! haha i guess i'll watch the 9 and 12 matches, leave the 3am de to weekends bah..
yes, tonight is the night! 4 more hours to kick off as i blog this.. this is the period of time when the world seem to stop, colleagues taking long leave to chase ball (or boys, depending on your gender orientation), people coming to work/school (after the holidays) with panda eyes, when wives suddenly feel unloved (thankfully both of us like to watch haha), when people start having beer bellies and growing fat from the midnight snacking, when terrorists don't have time to go around bombing people (pray they don't attach any match), when half the daily Newpaper reports on the previous day's matches, when people get mental and scream at the tv with those words that are used once every 4 years like 'kelong' 'like that also cannot score!' 'red card la' 'oei offside lehs, ref blind or wad?' 'there goes my betting money!', the build up to the final and suddenly left with nothing but memories after the last match, the world cup withdrawal syndromes, and the feeling of back to reality and the idea of having to wait another 4 years set in. totally sucks.. haha but that's for us to worry about 1 month later. for now, just catch the fever!! (: world cup rocks my world! (by the way, i support italy, not england!)

::Devils chalet::
i simply love devils chalets haha when are w having our next?? stole some pix from joyce, and the ultimate kbox videos at the end of the post. it's a must watch! ;)
bbq was as always hilarious.. other than cooking, we sat around and chit chatted, update one another about our lives. and for me, the best opportunity to suan zonghao, considering i haven't seen him for 4 good years (the last world cup, goodness!) can't hold my tongue haha. here's the bbq pix!
Two's a company..
The usual 'you-me' pictures
Three's a crowd..
The usual 'you-me-the other person' pictures
They're acting cute while i'm busy!!
I can't believe they never ask me to act cute along with them! *left out*
Buaya king at work..
Haha kidding la, it's a usual 'guys update girls on NS life' thing..
Busy at work..
Making sure they have the best of bbq food
Harmlessly Scary Pictures
Really had a scare editing these pics, but anyway, hope they don't kill me if they see this.. joyce was the one who took the pix!
Class of Devils - RVHS 2002
Graduated, friends forever..
and the bbq ended off with that touching class picture (preceded by that scary photos).. back to the chalet, the usual ps2 games, asshole dai dee, mahjong for a while and the blackjack session against the 3 lords of the gamble. sad to say, we didn't play much (as we used to do in the past chalet) although the girls team did we a bit of $$. stole a few hours of sleep and on to the next day's activities..
Dead tired
Chunchi looked like he's died in a scary position, and zonghao looked like a ready to eat ba zang (肉粽)
Back from the Wild.. Wild Wet!
The captions speak for themselves..
From the chalet
Misc pix from inside the chalet
finally managed to get our lazy butts out of the chalet, so made our way to kbox at tampines. came to realise that our class people really like to K, so our future outings have another alternative le ;) not many pix, but there's 2 videos showing the warzone there.. before going on to them, shall summarise what happened in the box. took sometime to warm up, and as usual, jinhan kicked off with the jacky wu's version of 屋顶 and the ball started rolling le. we were, many at times, howling with laughter and screaming into the microphones with our 音不准 voices, it was like 拆屋子 like that. and the songs kept coming, and the ultimate highlight was our 5 信乐团 songs in a row - 一了百了, 天高地厚, one night in beijing, 世界末日 and the best 死了都要爱. total madness lohs, especially after the last song, we were left voiceless.. then after that we chose those english songs with lousy mtv to sing.. it was seriously damn hilarious, haven't laughed my guts upside down for a long time le.. heh n now for the videos:
it's kinda grainy, but we should all know that's jinhan, the jacky wu of 4devils.. his version of 'one night in eijing' enjoy the laugh, but meanwhile take care of your ears do no switch on to a loud volume!
funny as well, jinhan and ben (didn't we say there's something on between them?) and their 动力火车's '坚守爱情' also the kind of 要死要活 song..
that's the fun, joy and laughter of the devils chalet for you. i must say, i feel very very lucky to have known them and even better, kept in contact till now. hopefully, the devils spirit will continue to burn on.. (: that's all folks!
